Salman Khan, Asin Captivate Underprivileged Kids at Ready Mumbai Premiere

Salman Khan and Asin captivated everyone at a special preview screening of their film "Ready" for underprivileged kids at Infiniti Mall in Versova, Mumbai on Thursday, June 2.

The two were dressed casually and interacted well with their young audience. Salman sported a cropped haircut, blue T-shirt with the logo of his nonprofit Being Human foundation on it, tattered jeans and a pair of black sandals.

Asin echoed the laidbackness of her costar, with hair worn down, a V-necked LPD cinched with a wide black belt, and open-toed black heels. Makeup was less is more, with beige eye color and pink lipstick. Most interestingly, the 25-year-old Ghajini star wore parrot green polish on her fingers and toes. Her jewelry was wisely kept to a minimum.

Ready is Salman's first film since megahit Dabangg. The film is about a wealthy heir who wants to have fun before having to settle down.

What we love about Sallu Bhai is not only is he an amazing actor but he makes time for worthy causes.

Dabangg 2 Will Take the Story Forward

Dabangg 2 will be a continuation of Dabangg headlining Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, not a new story with the same characters, the film's producer and director Arbaaz Khan says in a new video post.

Arbaaz says he has almost completed the first draft of the film but it will take him some more time to come up with a shooting script. Once he wraps scripting he will work on the music, sign the cast and start pre-production to take the film on floor by the beginning of next year.

Arbaaz is confident that Dabangg the sequel will be as exciting and bigger and better than the original.

Salman Khan who is currently filming Bodyguard will next shoot for Yash Raj Films' Ek Tha Tiger and then work on Dabangg 2.

Zarine Khan Micky Mouse Cute at Ready Special Screening

Zarine Khan was playfully dressed in Disney top and dark blue skinny jeans at a special screening of Ready at Ketnav Preview Theatre in Pali Hill, Mumbai late evening Tuesday, May 31.

Zarine's short sleeve top had a sparkly Micky Mouse emblazoned at the front and a scoop neckline. She accessorized with black pumps, black purse and light jewelry.

The 23-year-old starlet was accompanied to the event by her family.

Salman's sister Arpita played host in the absence of Salman who is away in Patiala filming for Bodyguard.

Salman's Ready co-star Asin was a no show.

Zarine plays a cameo in Ready. She is paired with Salman Khan in the chart busting song, Character Dheela.

Zarine made her Bollywood debut with Salman Khan in Veer but her career has since floundered. Salman has now given her a second break with the cameo in Ready.

Zarine also landed a role in Housefull 2 after Salman put in a word to producer Sajid Nadiadwala, a close Salman friend.

Showing her gratitude to Salman, Zarine recently said, "I will never be able to thank him enough. He is an honest man, and I see myself falling back on him in times of difficulty. I shall forever remain loyal to him."

Zarine is currently filming for a L. I. Kannan helmed Tamil period film Karikalan with co-star Vikram.

Sonam Kapoor: Look What She is Not Wearing

Sonam Kapoor strikes a pensive pose in risque attire on the cover of Marie Claire's June issue. While we are not sure what she is wearing, we are pretty sure what she is not wearing – at least one piece of underwear.

And that's because the photo doesn't go below the waist, thankfully!

We are also sure a wardrobe malfunction is just a gust of wind away!

Ironically, Sonam's cover story is taglined Sonam Kapoor – Fashion's Favorite Girl.

We are not sure Sonam's attire is proper for an aspiring role model. Indeed, we have a feeling mom and dad are going to be having a talk with their not so little girl.

Sonakshi Sinha 'The last year has been a roller-coaster'

Sonakshi Sinha, who celebrates her 24th birthday today, is awed by her meteoric rise to stardom.

"The last year has been a roller-coaster for me. When I look back I feel it's been a whole lifetime in one year," she says. [via Mid Day]

"It went by so quickly! I wish I had more time to enjoy what was happening to me. I never thought all this will happen to me. I can't ask for more. I've gotten into my calm meditative mode this birthday. I've to admit it's a new birth for me."

Though we wouldn't go as far as calling it a new birth, Sonakshi has much to be proud of, starting with her parents, who have given her a firm grounding, and her own hard work.

She also has Salman Khan to thank for giving her a crucial break in Dabangg as his co-star and later guiding her career.

Left to herself, Sonakshi would spend the day quietly, but her family has different plans.

"I am not much of a party girl. My family is more enthusiastic about my birthday than I am."

Shahid Kapoor's Mausam Delay Confirmed

The release of Pankaj Kapoor directorial debut film Mausam, headlining Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, has been pushed back from July 22 to September 9.

Sawfnews.com was first to report that the release of Mausam will be delayed to avoid a box office clash with Singham, headlining Ajay Devgn.

Both films were earlier scheduled to hit screens on July 22.

Officially, Mausam's postponement announced today is being attributed to a delay in the film's post production work.

The real reason, say our sources, is: Mausam producers developed cold feet over taking on Singham after the first rushes and promo of Rohit Shetty's action flick wowed industry observers.

The theatrical trailer for Mausam will be released on June 24 with Double Dhamaal. A second trailer will follow with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on July 15.

Style Blues at Ready Screening

Sonakshi Sinha looked aqua cool in casuals at the special screening of film Ready at Ketnav Preview Theater in Pali Hill, Mumbai on Tuesday late evening, May 31.

Sonakshi doubtless attended the screening as show of support for her Dabangg co-star Salman Khan.

The film's screening was hosted by Salman's sister Arpita Khan, as he is away in Patiala filming for Bodyguard.

The Sinha kid, who turns 24 tomorrow, paired her aqua plaid cap sleeve buttoned top with skinny faded jeans. The top was knotted at the front to flaunt her not perfectly flat tummy.

She accessorized with matching peep toe stiletto pumps.

Shahid Kapoor Takes on Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan at the Box Office

Mausam, headlining Shahid Kapoor, will now clash at the box office on September 9 with Rockstar headlining Ranbir Kapoor and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan headlining Imran Khan.

Mausam producers announced on Tuesday, May 31, that the film's release had been pushed back from July 22 to September 9.

The postponement was attributed to a delay in the film's post production work.

The real reason, according to Sawfnews.com sources, was that Mausam producers developed cold feet over taking on Singham headlining Ajay Devgn after the first rushes and promo of Rohit Shetty's action flick wowed industry observers.

It is not clear why Mausam is being released on September 9 in a fratricidal clash, because the month is not crowded with releases. Mausam could easily have been released a week or two later.

Both Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan are pitched at the youth. While Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan don't have very impressive box office records and aren't in the same league as Ajay Devgn, their films could well click ,adversely impacting Mausam earnings.

The only reason we could think off why anyone would want to release the three films on the same day is because it would pit Ranbir Kapoor against his two exes - Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif!

Yeah! It's not a compelling reason. It is not even a serious reason, and that is just what we are saying.

Sanjay Dutt Spends Every Other Night on Set in Diu

Sanjay Dutt is filming for Agneepath in Diu, miles away from his home in Mumbai. So guess where he spends every other night?

At home with his new born twins and wife Manyata, where else?

And how does he do it?

He hires a chartered plane every other day to fly to and fro between Mumbai and Diu.

"He flies out from Diu late in the evening, spends the night with his twins and wife in Mumbai, and returns in time for the shoot next morning," a source tells Sawfnews.com exclusively.

Amazing, how soft hearted these tough looking Bollywood stars are!

Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal in Kushan Nandy's Thriller

Amitabh Bachchan and Arjun Rampal will team up for Pritish Nandy's son Kushan Nandy's yet to be titled thriller, a source close to Nandys tells Sawfnews.com exclusively.

The female lead is yet to be finalized.

Kushan is still working on the film's plot, but filming is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2011.

In the summer of 2009 Bachchan had blogged that he and Kangana Ranaut will star in Pritish Nandy's thriller, The Actor, which will be directed by Pritish's son Kushan.

"The film was based on Bollywood film industry. But after a lot of structural changes they finally shelved the film. Now this script came along and Big B gave his nod," our source tells us.

Amitabh and Arjun have teamed up several times in the past: Aankhen (2002), Ek Ajnabee (2005), Darna Zaroori Hai (2006), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and The Last Lear (2008).

Shahid Kapoor Headlining Mausam Release Delayed

The release of Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor headlining love story Mausam is likely to be delayed in order to avoid a fratricidal clash with Ajay Devgan's cop thriller Singham.

Both the films are currently scheduled to hit screens on July 22.

A source close to the production team tells Sawfnews.com that Mausam producers have suddenly developed cold feet over the prospect of taking on Singham.

"Mausam was to clash with Singham, but the first rushes and promo of Singham have got rave reviews within the industry making Mausam makers question the wisdom of clashing with Rohit Shetty's action flick."

The Singham trailer has wowed one and all. It begins with Ajay Devgan making an imposing entry amidst the recital of shloka and features edge of the seat action.

"The action scenes leave one speechless and makes one go numb...the car explosion and Ajay Devgn's punch scene gives one goose bumps," a source who has seen the promo tells Sawfnews.com.

Mausam marks the directorial debut of Shahid's father Pankaj Kapur who has also penned the film's script. Shahid and Pankaj are invested in the film, both financially and emotionally.

Pankaj says he took three years to think and plan the script and 6 months to physically write it.

Filming began in June 2010 and wrapped up on May 25. Shahid dedicated the entire year to the film.

Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol Turn Social

Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol have jointly launched a Facebook page and YouTube channel - both simply titled 'the deols' - to reach out to their considerable fan base, buoyed by the success of their recent film Yamla Pagla Deewana

Their new endeavor embraces social media and has the strapping of a contemporary day digital media campaign, but it's not what you could call a media blitz. It's just old fashioned, warm hearted, reaching out to fans. Just plain talk, straight from the heart. Not intended to impress you, but just reach out to you.

If there is a wow factor in their campaign it is – Hey, these guys are real!

You might find the Deol's rooting in tradition heartwarming, but remember it comes as a package. In traditional social interaction some aspects of life are off limits.

As Dharmendra says in his endearing inaugural video post, there is a line that we must not transgress from either side.

Abhay Deol and Preeti Desai's Romantic Evening Out

Abhay Deol accompanied girlfriend Preeti Desai to Ekta Kapoor's three-film success party at her Krishna Bungalow in Juhu, Mumbai on Friday, May 27.

Preeti made her Bollywood debut with the recently released Shor in the City, one of the three films whose success was being celebrated. The other two films being Taaryanche Bait (Marathi) and Ragini MMS.

Abhay, 35, was hard to recognize in a thick black mustache, deep tan and dress shirt replete with tie. The facial foliage probably comes from his makeover in the currenlty filming intense political thriller Shanghai, being directed by Dibakar Banerjee.

Abhay didn't leave Preeti's side the entire evening and the soon to be engaged couple cheerily posed for photogs.

Preeti, 29, looked ravishing in a French Connection Corsage Shoulder Dress with a plunging V neckline, statement shoulders with a tiered ruffle design, stud trim, a fitted waist and a tie fastening at back.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Abhay and Preeti had postponed their engagement due to a death in the family.

"Preeti and Abhay are with each other around the clock, despite having separate addresses. There has been a death in the family (Dharmendra's elder sister passed away) and that's why they are not rushing their engagement. When the family overcomes the sorrow, Abhay and Preeti will exchange rings, maybe later this month or in June," a source told TOI.

Before meeting Preeti in 2008, Abhay was never reported to be in a steady relationship.

Preeti, a UK citizen and former Miss Great Britain (2006), dated someone in the UK for two years following her pageant win.

Preeti impressed viewers with her short and sexy role as a model in Shor in the City, but has yet to sign her second film.

Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Treated Like Royalty in Patiala! Posted on Saturday, May 28, 2011 (EST) Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's arrival in Patial

Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's arrival in Patiala recently for the third schedule of Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard, created a buzz in the former princely state widely regarded as Punjab's cultural capital, where museums, palaces and parks abound.

A member of production team told Sawfnews.com that the two stars drove to Patiala by car from Chandigarh airport; Kareena arrived on Thursday, May 26, and Salman a day later.

Salman and Kareena are staying and shooting at Neemrana hotel Baradari Palace.

Opened four years ago, the heritage-hotel is housed in a 19th century palace of Patiala Maharaja Rajinder Singh. The building known as Baradari Kothi was built in 1876. Baradari is an open pavilion with 12 arches.

In Bodyguard Baradari Palace is shown to be Kareena's house.

The hotel's manager tells Sawfnews.com that the filmmakers have exclusively booked the hotel from May 25 to June 23. A notice on the hotel's gate says it will remain closed to public until then.

The hotel had earlier hosted the Deols during the filming of Yamla Pagla Deewana - the sprawling house where Anupam Kher is shown as living with his extended clan.

The hotel with 11 suites and 6 rooms has been placed under tight security by its management, even though Salman is traveling with his own security detail from Mumbai.

Production team member arrived in the city well ahead of the stars to overlook the arrangements.

Other cast members joining the Patiala schedule include Raj Babbar and Hazel. Shatrughan Sinha is not part of this schedule, said the production member.

The three digit temperatures of Patiala are not beckoning enough for Salman to enjoy the sprawling gardens of the palace.

"Salman has been in his room which has been cordoned off by his security men since the time he arrived in the city," the hotel manager told us.

"We have not yet received any special requests from either Salman or Kareena but Salman did inquired about workout facilities in the hotel."

While Kareena plans to stay in Patiala through the entire duration of the shoot, Salman will be in and out of the city since Ready is releasing on June 3.

Sridevi Poised for Bollywood Comeback with 'English Vinglish'

Sridevi will return to the silver screen, after a 14 year hiatus to raise her family, with the film 'English Vinglish,' to be directed by Gauri Shinde, wife of R Balki.

Pre-production work on the film is already underway, the 47-year-old actress told Mid-Day recently.

Sridevi was earlier expected to make her Bollywood comeback with Mr India 2, but the film has yet to take off.

Sridevi credits the script of English Vinglish and its director for motivating her comeback after "spending time at home, raising my children."

"When I heard the script, I fell in love with it. I hope it turns out well," she says.

"We've already started working on costumes and the look -- we've selected the sarees," she added.

Sridevi, who will be working with a woman director for the first time in her career, is upbeat about the prospect.

"I've never worked with a woman director before. When I met her [Gauri] there was so much positive energy between us."

In the past, Sridevi has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films.

The last time she faced the camera was for the Hindi film Judaii (1997). Thereafter, she took time off to raise her children.

"I loved spending time at home, raising my children," she says. "Besides, being a producer's wife, how can I ever be away from the industry? I never felt disconnected."

Sridevi has so far won four Filmfare Awards, two for Hindi film, and one each for Telugu and Tamil films.

Javed Jaffrey's Nasty Finale to Double Dhamaal Filming

Javed Jaffrey injured his knee on the set of Indra Kumar's comedy Double Dhamaal during the wrap up scene at Mehboob Studios.

Javed had earlier hurt his thumb during the filming.

During the filming of first Dhamaal (2007), Javed had hurt his leg.

The 47-year-old comic actor/dancer plays beanie donning Manav in the film. He is seen mimicking Shah Rukh Khan in the film.

The story goes that the team needed to shoot just one final scene, a song titled Chill Maaro, at Mehboob Studios. However just before the final scene Javed broke his leg and had to be admitted to a hospital. The actor was in such pain that the Director/producer Indra Kumar and co-producer Ashok Thackeria immediately altered the scene and showed all the actors lying on the bed.

Producer Ashok Thackeria confirmed the incident, "The film on its last leg…. Javed jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly. We immediately took him to Lilavati as we were in Mehboob Studios...the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken… Luckily it was not a major injury but he was in immense pain to say the least. Despite the pain, Javed insisted we finish the shoot and hence we then changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later on with Jaaved and the entire team!"

The actor says that the Doctor has advised a surgery to treat the ligament tear which is quite bad. His surgery is scheduled for June 1.

Everyone on the set was much concerned about Javed, as he was in excruciating pain, but at the same time the unit also took it as a lucky charm as the first film was a super hit at box-office.

Headlining stars getting hurt on set is considered lucky for the film in Bollywood. Hrithik Roshan got hurt twice on Agneepath set, Shahid Kapoor hurt himself twice on Mausam set and both the films' production units anticipate their films to do well at Box Office.

The Dhamaal sequel, which additionally stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Kangana Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat and Ashish Chowdhry, is due for release on June 24. The film will have its world premiere in Toronto during IIFA 2011.

Asin Floral Flirty at Provogue Bash

Asin enchanted in a flouncy print skirt and white top at Provogue Store on May 26 at Inorbit Malad to plug her upcoming film Ready headlining Salman Khan.

Asin, 25, rocked a black skirt with pink, white and green floral print and wide elasticated waist band. She paired it with a white long sleeve top.

She accessorized with glossy black platform pumps, heart necklace and stud earrings.

Her hair, styled in luscious vertical waves and side parting, draped her shoulders.

She wore pink and silver eye shadows, thick eyeliner on lids and false lashes. Shimmering pink lipstick and pink nail polish rounded her charming looks.

The 3rd Rock Entertainment organized event was staged at the Food Court. The event exploded with Flash Mob dancers appearing from different sides, revving-up the audience to READY hit songs "Character Dheela Hai" and "Dhinkchika".

Asin made a big entrance, joining with the dancers and shaking a leg with them.

Provogue teamed up with Ready producers T-Series and Sohail Khan Production to host the high energy music and dance party, rocking the crowd with music of the film.

With Salman Khan absent, the event was an out right Asin show. Past promotional events for the film have focused exclusively on Salman, just as the movie reportedly revolves around him completely.

Asin recently said she is perfectly happy playing second fiddle to Salman as the film is largely his show.

"When a film stars Salman Khan, it is but natural that the script is written to accentuate his presence in the film. It is also logical to have the film revolve around him. The same has to reflect in the promos as well where his style and mannerisms are exposed to the audience," Asin told PTI.

Asin and Salman will be in Dubai on June 1 for the world premiere of Ready, which opens in theaters on June 3.

A Budget Heroine Aishwarya Rai

Budget Heroine

Aishwarya Rai has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar directed Heroine, in exchange for a share in the film's profit.

The grim box office performance of Bollywood films this year has prompted Heroine producers UTV and Bhandarkar Entertainment to budget their film at a very frugal Rs 18 crore, according to the Mumbai Mirror.

Besides Aishwarya, Arjun Rampal and Bhandarkar (sure!) have agreed to pay cuts and profit sharing.

Going by the success of Bhandarkar's past films - Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), and Fashion (2008) – 'Heroine' Aishwarya and Arjun are unlikely to lose money on the project. Besides, it is not as if they had to drop other films to sign on for Heroine!

"We have worked very successfully with Madhur in the past. Getting a film made within the right budget is crucial to insuring its commercial success. On Heroine too, we have insured the same," Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, tells the Mumbai Mirror.

Aishwarya Rai, Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV's Ronnie Screwvala announced Heroine at the 64th Cannes Festival on May 13, 2011.

Heroine will be the first film to team Aishwarya with talented director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Still Looking Out for Katrina Kaif

When Salman Khan arrived two hours late at a press meet to announce a concert to promote his upcoming film Ready on Friday, May 20, he wasn't being disrespectful to journalists, he was being respectful to Katrina Kaif.

Salman was to arrive at his presser at Hotel Novotel in Juhu, Mumbai at 2 PM, but arrived past 4 PM. No one complained, which is surprising since we are talking about journalists here!

Here is why: Many of the journalists covering Salman's presser were also assigned to cover Katrina Kaif's Etihaad Airways media meet at Taj Palace Hotel in Colaba in far away South Mumbai at 12 pm. Salman's event was in Suburban Western Mumbai and the travel time between the two venues is at least an hour and a half.

Salman didn't want journos to leave Katrina's event early in order to make sure they didn't miss his event. So he discretely sent feelers to the journos, through his PR folks: Give Katrina your full attention and leave only when the event ended. I will be waiting!

With Bhai, chivalry thrives! And as far as events involving him and Katrina go: Flak proposes, Salman disposes.
