Red Carpet Pairs Division: Monaghan and Gyllenhaal

An upset, in every sense of the word.

Should we be embarrassed that we kind of want to see the Inception ripoff they're flogging? And when we say "see," we mean "on HBO." We're intrigued, but not enough to spend 30 bucks for the privilege to see it while sipping cool, refreshing Diet Cokes in cups larger than our heads.

Anyway, here are the two crazy kids, stiffly smiling and posing. Let's break down their scores.

Jake: We don't think we've ever really had an issue with anything he's ever worn for events. Clearly, he's one of those rare young male stars who gets that he's supposed to present himself and knows how to do it. You never see him with a half-untucked shirt and a pair of jeans at a premiere. We don't particularly like dress shirts matching the color of the suit. It can so easily go "mafia," especially when worn without a tie. For whatever magical reasons we can't identify, Jake is pulling it off here. He looks crisp, tailored and put together. It's a great color. Love the shoes. The hem looks okay (slightly long), and we can see his shirt cuffs (although perhaps a bit too much).

Michelle: Who did this to her? What queen will have the balls to take credit for this? Stand up, bitch. We all want to yell at you.

She's such a pretty, fresh-faced thing. Why would anyone try and vamp her up like this? It's not her look. In fact, we're pretty sure someone got their orders mixed up and this entire look, head to toe, was meant to go on some other starlet. Which means some other starlet was walking around wearing Michelle's look. Keep your eyes peeled in the next couple of days for pictures of Miley Cyrus or Vanessa Hudgens looking uncharacteristically clean-faced and chic.

The dress doesn't work on mere mortals. A model, maybe. The Agent 99 hair is ridiculous and really doesn't suit her, nor do the smokey eyes. And the shoes just look like 2009 to us. She's not a household name or face. Obscuring her best assets and forcing her into a look miles away from the one she wears in her roles was a bad idea for someone on their way up the fame scale. Michelle? Fire someone.
