Nicole Richie for Harper's Bazaar Russia
Harper's Bazaar Russia March 2011 Issue
Editorial: "Color Power"
Photographer: Katie Bleacher & Dean Everard
Stylist: Natalia Alaverdian
Hair: Ken Paves
Makeup: Scott Barnes
We didn't quite know what to make of this editorial when we first laid eyes upon it; celebunothing Nicole Richie, Harlowe-blonde and in a succession of brightly colored outfits, staring blankly ahead in every picture, with word balloons over her head. Is this a Russian thing we're just not getting? Eventually, the scales fell from our eyes and the reasoning behind it all was crystal clear.
Mainly it's because the brightly colored clothes lend themselves to a comic strip interpretation. It's cute and it mostly works. But it's also because this girl couldn't work a look if her life depended on it and they needed to do something cute to make the editorial worth it. We know; we're constantly pointing out the obvious when we say this non-model or that non-model, well she's no model, but seriously this time. Sometimes it looks like she doesn't even know where the camera is.
Great clothes and styling, though.
