rumors surfacing the web for past few hours. Now it turns true that Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele has passed away at 48. Reportedly he died of heart failure on April 14, 2010.
Guitarist Kenny Hickey confirmed it although no official statement was made. The site from the band is also difficult accessible with its database being up and down since last night.

Back in 2005, the band's web site had a gravestone with the words "[P]eter Steele - 1962 - 2005 .... Free At Last" carved on it on the entry page. But Steele was very much alive and the gravestone was merely a joke.
